This is a bird of prey called a black kite. When I was in the crater we were warned not to eat lunch outside the truck b/c these birds would swoop down and steal our food. I was skepitcal about the warning and quickly learnt my lesson. I was about to take my second bite when one swooped down down and took my sandwich. Jokes on him, it was an egg-salad sandwich. How do you like eating your own kind?!
