I'm Off to Africa

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Ok… so here’s the thing… I’m going to Africa. Let me backtrack a bit for ya.

I recently came across a lot of free time due to our failing economy and one of my friends, Manny, came across a trip. He wanted to do some charity work of seas and it just so happen his friend, Holly, had a charity and she was planning a trip to Africa. They talked and Manny found out more about the plan and that they’d be filming a documentary on the work and the same time. And those that know Manny, knows he can’t resist being in front of the camera. Actually he’s good people and wanted to help out and and excuse to travel.

Anyways, back to me, knew of my recent issue and told me about the trip and asked if I’d be interested to join them as a volunteer-slash-photographer. Who am I to resist an opportunity to travel, take photos and do some good? So on Saturday (November 8th) Manny told me that I got the OK from Holly to join. What now? Shit, now the planning begins. Oh wait, we’re leaving in less than two weeks… awesome, no problem. Kind of reminds me about my trip to Russia last winter, the time from first talking about it with a friend to being on a plane was two weeks. This trip is the same, but unlike the trip to Russia, which was only a week long, this one is for one to two months! Should be fun.

The charity is called Caleb’s Hope and they do work in Kenya, Uganda and other countries. Should be interesting.
